Msgr. Grimes Scholarship
The Shamrock Club of Columbus is not only honored but very proud to sponsor the Msgr. J. Colby Grimes Scholarship in memory of our former chaplain [1995 – 2003] who died of leukemia in April 2003. The scholarship is based on academic success, leadership skills and community service among other criteria and is awarded to one student from each of the five Columbus Catholic High Schools who meet one of the following criteria: has a parent or relative currently belonging to the Shamrock Club, or is recommended by a current member of the Shamrock Club.
Applications for the Msgr. J. Colby Grimes Memorial Scholarship are available on the Shamrock Club’s Web site and at the club, as well as, the five Columbus Catholic high schools.
The $1,000 scholarships [$5,000 in total] are awarded annually to a current high school freshmen, sophomore or junior at the five Columbus Catholic high schools [DeSales, Hartley, Ready, St. Charles and Watterson].
Each year the Shamrock Club’s scholarship selection committee interviews two students from each school, as determined by the committee, with the top student from each school receiving a $1,000 scholarship. All scholarship checks are sent directly to the student’s school to be credited to their tuition account.
